SACRAMENTO – Fabian Reichstadt posted a double-double with 27 points and 12 rebounds to help lead No. 18-seed Gavilan College to an 83-68 win at No. 15 Cosumnes River College on Wednesday night in an opening-round game of the Northern California Regional Playoffs.
The Rams advance to Round 2 of the playoffs where they will travel to take on No. 2 City College of San Francisco for a Saturday night game at 7 p.m.
CCSF had a first-round bye and is 23-5 overall this season. San Francisco was champions of the Coast Conference North Division with an 11-1 record.
On Wednesday, Gavilan overcame an early 12-2 deficit and jumped out to a huge lead of its own with an 11-0 run to close out the first half.
Reichstadt dominated the opening half with 19 of his 27 points while Cameron Saldana poured in 15 of his 24 points in the second. Isaiah Hinds also had a solid game with 16 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists.
Bricen Buciak chipped in with 4 points and 9 boards and Kenny Harper Jr had 6 points and 5 rebounds.
With the win, Gavilan improved to 13-16 overall. The Rams are making their second straight postseason appearance, the first under new head coach Henry Anyiam.
