NORTHERN CALIFORNIA PLAYOFFS BRACKET
The 2023-24 season for the Gavilan College men's basketball team will continue into the postseason. On Sunday, the Rams were named the No. 18 seed for the upcoming Northern California Regional Playoffs.
Gavilan will travel to No. 15-seed Cosumnes River College for a first-round game on Wednesday, Feb. 28 at 7 p.m. Ticket prices for the California Community College Athletic Association (3C2A) postseason game are $12 for general admission and $8 for all identified students, faculty, staff, senior citizens age 60 and over, and children under 12 years old.
The Rams enter the playoffs with a 12-16 overall record and finished fourth in the Coast Conference South Division at 6-6 under new head coach Henry Anyiam.
Gavilan returns to the playoffs for the second consecutive season. Last year, the Rams suffered a narrow 52-50 loss to College of San Mateo in the opening round.
No. 15 Cosumnes River wrapped up its regular season with a 16-12 overall record and finished fourth in the Big 8 Conference at 9-7.
The two squads will meet for the second time this season. On November 15, Gavilan lost 87-81 in a close battle at CRC.
The winner of Wednesday's match up will move on to a second-round game at No. 2 City College of San Francisco (23-5) on Saturday. Three wins are needed by the Rams to advance to the 3C2A State Championships on March 15-17 at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut.
