Former Ram Fabian Reichstadt named to 3C2A Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll

GILROY – Former Gavilan College men's basketball standout Fabian Reichstadt was named to the 2023-24 3C2A Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll. The selections were announced by the 3C2A on Tuesday.

The Scholar-Athlete Award is the highest student achievement honor awarded annually by the 3C2A. The honorees are selected by the 3C2A Awards Committee from nominations made by community colleges throughout California. Reichstadt is one of just 18 student-athletes in the state chosen for this year's honor roll.

Candidates for the Scholar-Athlete Award must carry a minimum grade point average of 3.5 and must also show outstanding leadership as an athlete, student, or in other college and community activities, as well as have participated in two seasons of sport at a California community college.

Reichstadt excelled on both the basketball court and in the classroom.

He was a two-time All-Coast Conference selection for Gavilan. As a sophomore last year, Reichstadt averaged 16.7 points and 8.4 rebounds per game while helping lead the Rams to the second round of the Northern California Regional Playoffs.

While at Gavilan, Reichstadt earned an impressive 3.973 grade point average and successfully completed 79.5 units. He also served as a member of the college's Captain's Council leadership team and volunteered his time assisting with numerous campus activities.

Gavilan Director of Athletics Jamie Adams was proud to nominate Reichstadt for this well-deserved honor.

"Fabian Reichstadt is a student-athlete of the highest caliber, demonstrating excellence in academics, leadership, and athletics," Adams said. "His dedication, integrity, and willingness to serve his community made him an ideal candidate for this award.

"Fabian's academic performance is a true reflection of his disciplined and organized approach to being a true student-athlete. His leadership on the court earned him the respect of his teammates and coaches, and his contributions were instrumental in the team's success."

Following his two-year Gavilan career, Reichstadt transferred to California State University, Stanislaus and currently competes for the Stanislaus State men's basketball team.

He, along with the other Scholar-Athlete Award honorees, will be celebrated during the 3C2A Scholar-Athlete Luncheon on March 26. The luncheon will be a highlight at the annual 3C2A Convention scheduled for March 25-28 at the Sheraton Grand Hotel in Sacramento.
