2020 CCCAA Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll

The California Community College Athletic Association has selected former Ram, Noel Chavarria as a member of the 2020 CCCAA Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll. Chavarria, who is currently a member of the Ottawa University (Arizona) beach volleyball team, was a three sport student-athlete during her time at Gavilan College staring in volleyball, softball and beach volleyball.
 
The CCCAA Scholar-Athlete awards combine excellence in academics, athletics, and citizenship. Of the nearly 24,000 student-athletes in the CCCAA, only 16 were chosen for this honor. Chavarria's award will be acknowledged during the CCCAA Celebration of Scholar-Athletes at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 31. The event is part of our 2021 CCCAA Convention, which will be held virtually.
 
While a member of Gavilan's volleyball team, Chavarria was named 2nd team All-Coast Conference, wining a Coast Conference Championship each year she competed. As a member of the beach volleyball team, she won also won a Coast Conference Championship back in 2018, a team that qualified to the CCCAA Team Beach Volleyball State Tournament finishing 5th. While playing softball she was a 2nd team All-Coast Conference selection her freshman year. Both her sophomore seasons of beach volleyball and softball were cut short due to Covid-19. Chavarria is from Hollister, CA and a 2018 graduate of San Benito High School.
